Property and Freedom Society -- to one sided

[edit]

While the content of this section is correct, its not a neutral selection, as it over emphasizes topics seen (by non anarcho-capitalists) as negative, while only the description of the state is a positive pov. There should be more positive positions.

Its also important to distinguish his views on race from national-SOCIALISTS views and from the ethnocentric views. 2A01:598:D008:14CE:6ABC:7C1E:56F8:E7D1 (talk) 12:00, 31 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

It also misses the point of his arguments of why EVERYONE should be welcome to a discussion (which then obviously also includes nationalist).
I think this article is once again a showcase for biased views mimicry of nPOV 2A01:598:D008:14CE:6ABC:7C1E:56F8:E7D1 (talk) 12:03, 31 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Wikipedia articles mostly summarize high-quality secondary sources that are independent from the subject of the article, from criteria in WP:STICKTOSOURCE and WP:SOURCETYPES. If the section is expanded, then WP:SOURCETYPES and WP:RSP are guides to usable sources. Llll5032 (talk) 01:48, 5 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Rewrite the Article or have different versions

[edit]

The section/topic choices are biased and do not portrait a neutral picture. On the contrary they follow the general trend on Wikipedia to deviate more and more from it Wikipedias libertarian roots and picture topics that do contrast collectivists/socialist povs as negative.

It would be possible to choose completely different topics to picture him in any other light and since there is no objective measure to choose one view over any other, the only npov choice would be to include them all 2A01:598:D008:14CE:6ABC:7C1E:56F8:E7D1 (talk) 12:09, 31 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Seconded, this article is obviously biased against its subject. It portrays Hans Hermann Hoppe in a negative light, and is clearly trying to push the idea that he is bigoted towards racial and sexual minorities to demean his character in the eyes of readers.
A rewrite should include at-least some of those controversial or otherwise unsavory aspects for the sake of giving readers all the relevant information, but to be frank, this article is a simple hack job as it stands and only follows NPOV on a technical, surface/bureaucratic level. This is a disturbing trend in the website as a whole, and I agree with the first post about the increasingly evident subtle glorification of collectivism and broader politically left topics and painting of other very subjective topics in a distasteful one.
Example for why I say this: One source [13] is from the news agency 'The Intercept'. This is a known highly biased source, and though it is regarded to be factual (by to be mentioned groups) for the most part, adfontesmedia.com, mediabiasfactcheck.com, and allsides.com regard this to be a strongly left biased news agency. This is the same case with the 'New York Magazine/Intelligencer' [21], which is regarded by these same partiality reviewers as reporting more accurately, but is roughly as biased as The Intercept'. I understand these are also rated as 'Generally Reliable' per WP:RSP, however it is still curious that these specific sources are chosen for the given topic, especially considering the former of the two is considered WP:BIASED and stated so in WP:RSP.
My biggest gripe with this article personally is the tone isn't WP:IMPARTIAL. It appears, especially so in the beginning sections of the article, that there is alot of negative language, mentions of Hoppe meeting with racists/white nationalists, and him being popular among the 'far-right'. I believe this is a deliberate attempt to make most readers, who are likely to only skim the summary, form a hasty perception of Hoppe as some sort of unsavory member of the far-right, ie; mention of the covenant community's purpose being "protecting family and kin", and immediately following this up with his popularity among the far-right. I believe the information that Hoppe has platformed white nationalists is noteworthy information that readers would want to know about, but the way it is presented right now seems like an attempt at guilt by association to, again, demean Hoppe's character.
Excuse me if I am being rude, or not following wikipedia's decorum or protocol, I don't participate in talk pages often. 24.17.5.242 (talk) 23:54, 25 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

"Exclusion of homosexuals and dissidents" section is a mess, NPOV and bias

[edit]
  • The title violates NPOV, it's an improper distortion of Hoppe's broader concept of the right to discriminate in covenant communities
  • Unsourced claims of promoting racial discrimination
  • Unsourced claims that Hoppe's arguments "have proven particularly divisive" and "provoked controversy"
  • Distorts and places undue weight on Walter Block's argument

This is particularly egregious given one of the cited sources[1] itself emphasizes the context of Hoppe's statements ("under clearly stated circumstances"), and notes Hoppe's frustration with how his statements have been taken out of context in just this way in order to smear him. Wikipedia should be better than that.

As a reminder, WP:BLPSTYLE says: "BLPs should be written responsibly, cautiously, and in a dispassionate tone....Care must be taken with article structure to ensure the overall presentation and section headings are broadly neutral. Beware of claims that rely on guilt by association, and biased, malicious or overly promotional content."

As such, I've renamed the section to the more neutral "Covenant communities and discrimination", removed the unsourced claims, and reworded Block's comments to better capture the context. Stonkaments (talk) 23:44, 24 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

"Hoppe was also intimate friends with the Austrian–American economist Ludwig von Mises"

[edit]

The source that claims Mises was a dear friend of Hoppe is an article that portrays Hoppe in a negative light, and which does not provide a source for the claim. Hoppe came to America after the death of Mises. I'm unable to find any information anywhere that Hoppe and Mises ever interacted. 213.66.85.137 (talk) 20:27, 26 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Perhaps the RS erred. I am tagging the claim with "verification needed", and per BLP probably the claim should be removed soon if no additional source cannot be found. The claim also appears with a picture in the article. Llll5032 (talk) 05:07, 27 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
