Was her name “Barbara” at birth? Is “Barbra” just a nickname, as the first sentence of this article seems to imply? Is it, rather, a stage name, or did she legally change her name?TheScotch (talk) 06:40, 15 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Her name is written incorrectly as "Barbara joan" at the beginning and the next time her name is written, it's correctly changed to Barbra. There are only 2 a's in her name. The page won't let me edit so for the love of god, someone please do that. 2601:642:4C03:9AB7:C591:3EBA:D672:B10D (talk) 10:10, 10 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
In undoing a revert of an edit of mine by @FMSky:, I suggest that in terms of the lede's first sentence summarising Streisand's career roles, "film & TV producer" should be included because her forays there (28 productions including major films she produced amongst others such as 'Yentl', 'Nuts, 'A Star is Born' 'The Mirror Has Two Faces' & 'The Prince of Tides' plus many TV specials produced) make this aspect of her career notable and not at all "incidental and non-noteworthy" as would warrant their non-inclusion as per MOS:ROLEBIO as cited in the revert. Discuss? Walton22 (talk) 03:07, 19 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I added the photo which Streisand originally requested be removed to the section on the Streisand effect, but was reverted by User:Walton22. While I am sensitive to BLP concerns, I don't see how excluding this image from this article is mandated by the BLP policy. If it were, we would not have the image prominently placed in the lead of Streisand effect, and it probably would not be on Commons, either. (If there are no BLP issues, I think it is fairly clear that the image should be included as extremely relevant to the subject under discussion—namely, that very image.) Barbra Streisand explained in her memoir her security concerns and experience with intruders. The image is tagged with her name and links to a site that provides longitude & latitude co-ordinates. See Streisand_effect#Rebuttal_by_Barbra_Streisand & its Talk page. I feel we should not perpetuate the doxing of a public figure on WP, and she claims in her memoir her action was to thwart "doxing", not suppress the photo.Walton22 (talk) 04:57, 3 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
"Biographies of living persons ("BLPs") must be written conservatively and with regard for the subject's privacy...the possibility of harm to living subjects must always be considered when exercising editorial judgment. This policy applies to any living person mentioned in a BLP, whether or not that person is the subject of the article" Walton22 (talk) 17:17, 3 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
