Hi Nickydread

[edit]

Welcome to wikipedia. I saw the info you added at Gregory Isaacs. Good work. There's a shocking lack of coverage of reggae in general on wikipedia. It's good to see someone adding things. You might like to look at the main reggae page, roots, dub and rastafarianism. I think all of them could do with some work.

Don't forget, if you think someone deserves an entry but you don't necessarily have enough to fill it up yourself you can add {{stub}} to the bottom of your edit. It will show up on the stubs page then and other users will know it is a page that could do with additions.

All the best. Mattley 20:33, 15 Nov 2004 (UTC)

Whoops! What you need to type is {{ }} with stub written in the middle. The message will come up automatically, as it did when I typed it above... Mattley 20:35, 15 Nov 2004 (UTC)

I'm still figuring out how to work in Wikipedia, and whether the investment is worth it.

I have improved the Reggae Category and added a few artist pages over the past few days.

Thanks for the advice. Happy to take it.

NickyDread.

Reggae category

[edit]

Hello Nicky. I'm not sure that I understand your message. Category:Reggae links to Category:Dancehall under Subcategories and Category:Dancehall links to Category:Reggae under Categories. Tim Ivorson 00:15, 26 Nov 2004 (UTC)

Hi Tim: For me the essence is "How do I discover a new reggae article (or artist). Using Reggaeton as an example - with the current setup he only shows in the Dancehall category. I think it approriate for subcat items to show in category lists. Dancehall is a type of reggae, and Reggaeton is, therefore a reggae artist... Nicky Dread 16:10, 26 Nov 2004 (UTC)

I think that high level categories (like Category:Reggae) would be cluttered if they directly contained all relevant topics. Including subtopics (like Category:Dancehall), which in turn contain more topics makes the pages for big categories more manageable. Tim Ivorson 21:44, 27 Nov 2004 (UTC)
[edit]

Hi, I have removed the reggae footer from all of the individual artists' pages. It's only supposed to be on articles which are actually about the genre of reggae, not people who play it. Tuf-Kat 21:31, Nov 28, 2004 (UTC)

Unreferenced BLPs

[edit]

Hello Nickydread! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 2 of the articles that you created are tagged as Unreferenced Biographies of Living Persons. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to ensure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. If you were to bring these articles up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 3 article backlog. Once the articles are adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the list:

  1. Mikey Chung - Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs· FENS · JSTOR · TWL
  2. Vere Johns - Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs· FENS · JSTOR · TWL

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
