Wikipedia:Requests for page protection

Page semi-protected
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Welcome—request protection of a page, file, or template here.

Before requesting, read the protection policy. Full protection is used to stop edit warring between multiple users or to prevent vandalism to high-risk templates; semi-protection and pending changes are usually used to prevent IP and new user vandalism (see the rough guide to semi-protection); and move protection is used to stop pagemove revert wars. Extended confirmed protection is used where semi-protection has proved insufficient (see the rough guide to extended confirmed protection)

After a page has been protected, it is listed in the page history and logs with a short rationale, and the article is listed on Special:Protectedpages. In the case of full protection due to edit warring, admins should not revert to specific versions of the page, except to get rid of obvious vandalism.

Request protection of a page, or increasing the protection level

Request unprotection of a page, or reducing the protection level

Request a specific edit to a protected page
Please request an edit directly on the protected page's talk page before posting here

Current requests for increase in protection level

Request protection of a page, or increasing the protection level

Place requests for new or upgrading pending changes, semi-protection, full protection, move protection, create protection, template editor protection, or upload protection at the BOTTOM of this section. Check the archive of fulfilled and denied requests or, failing that, the page history if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

Indefinite extended confirmed protection: Persistent disruptive editing. Moxy🍁 04:11, 23 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protected indefinitely. Starting with semi and we'll see how it goes. Firefangledfeathers (talk / contribs) 15:32, 23 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

    Indefinite extended confirmed protection: this is a Old Archived talk page. †TyphoonAmpil† (💬 - 📝 - 🌀 - Tools) 09:38, 23 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Declined – Not enough recent disruptive activity to justify protection. Firefangledfeathers (talk / contribs) 15:33, 23 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

    Indefinite extended confirmed protection: this is a Old Archived talk page. †TyphoonAmpil† (💬 - 📝 - 🌀 - Tools) 09:39, 23 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Declined – Not enough recent disruptive activity to justify protection. TyphoonAmpil, we don't protect pages preemptively. Please request again if your archives are disrupted. Firefangledfeathers (talk / contribs) 15:34, 23 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent sockpuppetry – Block evasion edit warring by User:Bigboss19923. Belbury (talk) 09:39, 23 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protected for a period of 2 months, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. Firefangledfeathers (talk / contribs) 15:36, 23 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: 3 different IPs since yesterday trying to change a page about a Hungarian surname into a page about a Jat tribe, despite the page not listing anyone from that tribe. Fram (talk) 10:35, 23 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Already protected by administrator zzuuzz. Favonian (talk) 13:45, 23 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Indefinite extended confirmed protection: Persistent sockpuppetry – Per WP:GSCASTE, disruptive editing and vandalism by socks and IPs. Ratnahastin (talk) 10:41, 23 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Declined – Not enough recent disruptive activity to justify protection. The last 10 edits encompass 12 months. There isn't enough disruption to warrant protection at this point.v/r - TP 15:32, 23 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: WP:ARBPIA protection needed. Two reversions have already occurred and the only topics currently on the page relate to PIA. Standard EC protection is being requested, given reversions have occurred now. The Weather Event Writer (Talk Page) 11:00, 23 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

    User(s) blocked: Tolli_Rabano (talk · contribs) blocked by TParis. v/r - TP 15:37, 23 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I'll protect this if it recurs again. @TParis: I don't think the block of Tolli was correct (at least not for vandalism) - while the change to the P:CE page was uncited, and the large increases in the numbers were what drew my attention, there's sources for them in the main article at 23 September 2024 Lebanon strikes. Not that this user should be the one adding them, of course. —Cryptic 15:43, 23 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Cryptic: The block wasn't just based on that article alone. This user exclusively edits numbers in current events pages suggesting that they're probably an experienced sock. But, also, that aside from this article, in other P:CE, they've taken more exact numbers and swapped them to higher ambiguous numbers without sources - all related to Lebanon. Clearly a SPA.--v/r - TP 15:50, 23 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

    Reason: High level of IP-vandalism Lklundin (talk) 11:56, 23 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

    User(s) blocked: 2405:3800:912:6BA2:0:0:0:1 (talk · contribs) blocked by Zzuuzz. v/r - TP 15:44, 23 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protection: Persistent disruptive editing – IPs are back with disruptive edits after the previous protection expired earlier today. Vestrian24Bio (TALK) 12:52, 23 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protected for a period of 2 days, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. v/r - TP 15:52, 23 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

    Indefinite semi-protection: Persistent vandalism. Filmssssssssssss (talk) 13:12, 23 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Declined – Not enough recent disruptive activity to justify protection. In the last 2 weeks, there was one instance of vandalism and once instance of a user unsure whether a period (.) came before or after a double quotation mark. v/r - TP 15:41, 23 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

    Semi-protection: Persistent vandalism. Filmssssssssssss (talk) 13:12, 23 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

    User(s) blocked: 209.7.245.210 (talk · contribs) blocked by JBW. v/r - TP 15:39, 23 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – The last 10 edits are only the removal of content from the infobox, and then that being reverted by other editors. The only vandalism is removal of one topic from the infobox by different IP editors (probably just one person with dynamic IP, but no proof for it). Bunnypranav (talk) 13:48, 23 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protected for a period of 1 week, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. v/r - TP 16:07, 23 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

The only vandalism is removal of one topic from the infobox by different IP editors (probably just one person with dynamic IP, but no proof for it). The same IP edits New Left (Poland) as well. Semi-protected for a period of 1 week, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. v/r - TP 16:09, 23 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent addition of unsourced or poorly sourced content – IP editors continuing to add unsourced shows to the article. Ravensfire (talk) 14:10, 23 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protected for a period of 2 weeks, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. v/r - TP 16:13, 23 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: Frequent COI edits. LakesideMinersCome Talk To Me! 14:14, 23 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

    Already protected by administrator Primefac. v/r - TP 16:15, 23 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: High level of IP vandalism over the years. Metta79 (talk) 14:23, 23 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protected for a period of 2 weeks, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. v/r - TP 16:16, 23 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: This page is being repeatedly created by paid editors from upwork without following policies. Recent paid user moved draft to main after draft was declined by reviewers. Thanks In2020 (talk) 14:34, 23 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: CTOPS ARBPIA. Borgenland (talk) 14:35, 23 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Declined There isn't significant vandalism there, or edits even. There is plenty of attention on this article to handle the minor vandalism there. It will likely be protected in the future, but we don't do preemptive protection.v/r - TP 16:12, 23 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Extended confirmed protected indefinitely. Firefangledfeathers (talk / contribs) 16:17, 23 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Indefinite semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – ip's adding unsourced information and adding in every pbs show known to man into a quote from one of the voice actors. Magical Golden Whip (talk) 15:10, 23 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

    User(s) blocked. Firefangledfeathers (talk / contribs) 16:16, 23 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

    Indefinite semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – Persistent vandalism. Susbush (talk) 15:23, 23 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Declined – Not enough recent disruptive activity to justify protection. Firefangledfeathers (talk / contribs) 16:00, 23 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

    Temporary semi-protection: Persistent sockpuppetry. Moxy🍁 15:24, 23 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

    User(s) blocked. Firefangledfeathers (talk / contribs) 16:04, 23 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – Regular source removal and content changes by IPs… propose temporary protection, but wonder if a longer term protection might be necessary given the vandalism has spanned multiple months. Danners430 (talk) 15:26, 23 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Declined – Not enough recent disruptive activity to justify protection. If it continues happening infrequently, we can try pending changes. Firefangledfeathers (talk / contribs) 15:43, 23 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Pending changes: Persistent vandalism. Filmssssssssssss (talk) 15:37, 23 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Pending-changes protected for a period of 1 year, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. Firefangledfeathers (talk / contribs) 15:57, 23 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
User(s) blocked: 64.88.19.47 (talk · contribs) blocked by Jauerback. I'm on the edge here. While all activity recently has been vandalism, it stretches over 4 months and very few edits. The most recent stuff, within the last 2 weeks there has only been 4 vandalism edits from an IP that is already blocked and a user that is already blocked. Not even vandalism to warrant protection, in my opinion.v/r - TP 15:59, 23 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

    Indefinite semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – Persistent vandalism. Susbush (talk) 15:42, 23 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Declined – Not enough recent disruptive activity to justify protection. Firefangledfeathers (talk / contribs) 15:48, 23 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: I have tried to add as much information as I could gather but some people with ill motives are trying to include misinformation which may be misleading and harmful for an organisation. So I think you will consider this request to for page protection. Thanks. Itz.mas10 (talk) 15:53, 23 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Declined – Not enough recent disruptive activity to justify protection. v/r - TP 15:54, 23 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent disruptive editing – IP editor continually adding unintelligible text. Mellk (talk) 16:05, 23 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Three-month semi-protection: persistent IP meat/sockpuppetry to add unsourced material. Implications of such a protection discussed at User talk:ZLEA. ~ Pbritti (talk) 16:28, 23 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Current requests for reduction in protection level

Request unprotection of a page, or reducing the protection level

Before posting, first discuss with the protecting admin at their talk page. Post below only if you receive no reply.

    • To find out the username of the admin who protected the page click on "history" at the top of the page, then click on "View logs for this page" which is under the title of the page. The protecting admin is the username in blue before the words "protected", "changed protection level" or "pending changes". If there are a number of entries on the log page, you might find it easier to select "Protection log" or "Pending changes log" from the dropdown menu in the blue box.
    • Requests to downgrade full protection to template protection on templates and modules can be directed straight here; you do not need to ask the protecting admin first.
    • Requests for removing create protection on redlinked articles are generally assisted by having a draft version of the intended article prepared beforehand.
    • If you want to make spelling corrections or add uncontroversial information to a protected page please add {{Edit fully-protected}} to the article's talk page, along with an explanation of what you want to add to the page. If the talk page is protected please use the section below.

Check the archives if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

Inactive Admin: The protection is no longer necessary as other related articles, such as Miss Universe Philippines and Binibining Pilipinas, functions perfectly well and provides up to date information and details without protection. Passionate fans and individuals cannot update, modify, and input necessary details without discussing it first on the Talk Page that is usually ignored by the protecting admin. FilipinoTiger (talk) 14:34, 23 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Not unprotected – Please use an edit request to request specific changes to be made to the protected page. The protecting admin ToBeFree is not inactive but is not obligated to answer edit requests, which can be answered by anyone. Use Wikipedia:Edit Request Wizard to make proper requests. A passionate editor is not a neutral editor, and such editors should be proposing changes on the talk page. ~Anachronist (talk) 15:33, 23 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Current requests for edits to a protected page

Request a specific edit to a protected page
Please request an edit directly on the protected page's talk page before posting here

Ideally, requests should be made on the article talk page rather than here.

    • Unless the talk page itself is protected, you may instead add the appropriate template among {{Edit protected}}, {{Edit template-protected}}, {{Edit extended-protected}}, or {{Edit semi-protected}} to the article's talk page if you would like to make a change rather than requesting it here. Doing so will automatically place the page in the appropriate category for the request to be reviewed.
    • Where requests are made due to the editor having a conflict of interest (COI; see Wikipedia:Suggestions for COI compliance), the {{Edit COI}} template should be used.
    • Requests to move move-protected pages should be made at Wikipedia:Requested moves, not here.
    • If the discussion page and the article are both protected preventing you from making an edit request, this page is the right place to make that request. Please see the top of this page for instructions on how to post requests.
    • This page is not for continuing or starting discussions regarding content should both an article and its discussion page be protected. Please make a request only if you have a specific edit you wish to make.
